What it does

Some VPN apps tunnel your whole phone. When that happens, other devices on your Wi-Fi may no longer be able to reach the proxy in VPN Hotspot & Proxy. VHP Bridge creates a bridge between your VPN and VPN Hotspot & Proxy, so sharing keeps working while your browsing still goes through the VPN.

Do I need it? Only if your VPN covers the whole phone and VPN Hotspot & Proxy shows the proxy as running, but the devices you connect cannot load anything. If sharing already works for you, you do not need VHP Bridge.

How to use it

What you need: both VPN Hotspot & Proxy and VHP Bridge installed on the same phone, plus a VPN app.

  1. Install both apps

    Install VPN Hotspot & Proxy and VHP Bridge from Google Play. VPN Hotspot & Proxy detects VHP Bridge automatically and will guide you if something is missing.

  2. Connect your VPN

    Start your VPN app. VHP Bridge shows VPN detected when it sees an active VPN. If it shows No VPN active, connect your VPN first, or your traffic goes out unprotected.

  3. Exclude VPN Hotspot & Proxy in your VPN app (one time)

    Open your VPN app's settings and find its per-app option, often worded Don't tunnel selected apps. Select VPN Hotspot & Proxy there. You only do this once.

  4. Open VHP Bridge and tap Start bridge

    If Android asks, allow notifications, because they keep the bridge running in the background. The status changes to Bridge active.

  5. Start sharing in VPN Hotspot & Proxy

    Start the bridge first, then turn on the hotspot and tap Start Proxy Server in VPN Hotspot & Proxy. Follow the connect your devices steps from there.

  6. When you are done, tap Stop bridge

    Stop the proxy in VPN Hotspot & Proxy, then open VHP Bridge and tap Stop bridge.

What you will see in the app

status

Bridge active or stopped

The main status tells you whether the bridge is running.

Shows whether a VPN is active, so you know your traffic is inside the VPN.

Uploaded and downloaded amounts update while the bridge runs.

Troubleshooting

It says "No VPN active"

Connect your VPN first, then reopen VHP Bridge. Without a VPN, anything you share goes out without VPN protection.

The bridge stops in the background

Allow notifications for VHP Bridge in Android settings. Android needs them to keep the bridge running.

Other devices still cannot connect

Check that you excluded VPN Hotspot & Proxy in your VPN app's per-app settings, that the bridge shows Bridge active, and that all devices are on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot. See the VPN Hotspot & Proxy troubleshooting.

Does VHP Bridge show ads or need an account?

No. It shows no ads and has no accounts or sign-up.
